Class
PHIL 118
This class was about ethical persuasion and was absolutely fascinating. I learned what it really means to persuade someone, and how we can all be effective and respectful persuaders. Despite it being the first time this class was offered, it was a great experience because Professor Marshall really enjoyed teaching the material.
ARTIFACTS
The shortest path from the HUB to the Physics and Astronomy Building on a map of the UW campus in 2006. This application was my final project, where I found the shortest path between any two buildings on campus.

Making an App!
This quarter I took CSE 331, where I learned how to write code at a higher complexity and a higher quality than in CSE 143. I never would have thought I could code at the level I did in this class, and accomplishing each week's projects bolstered by confidence as a programmer. After accomplishing the final project, I got to reflect on how much I'd grown as a critical thinker in this class. Each week, I had to put together more moving parts to make a project, and though it was hard to plan out the structure of a project at first, it got easier as I got used to thinking about my program at a high level rather than just focusing on the code itself.
The six of us communicated through Discord, and this is a screenshot of the members in our group.

Study Buddies
In CSE 311, we were allowed to collaborate on homework with our classmates (yay!). A lot of my friends from CSE 143 were taking this class, so we made a group chat and met up every week to work on the homework. I did not realize how much I valued spending time with them until we had to collaborate with a randomly assigned group for the midterm. It was nice meeting new people in the midterm group, but it wasn't the same. Once the midterm was over, we felt even closer to each other and had a great time the rest of the quarter helping each other out and just chatting. We are all taking CSE 312 together next quarter, and I am excited to be able to work with them again!

Growing as a writer
I encountered multimodal composition in depth for the first time in ENGL 182. Over ten weeks, I learned how to more freely express myself as a writer and became more comfortable with taking risks. Every day I responded to a prompt with whatever popped into my head, and this practice encouraged me to just put my thoughts on paper rather than mull over them. I learned how to use maps to tell a story, and incorporate different media into a piece of writing to better fit the theme of my writing. The best part about this class, though, was the community. We were all in UW Honors, which made us feel connected from the start. Everyone was very open and honest during discussions, which led to a very close knit and friendly community.
